What's Involved?

For day rehearsal, singing, drama and dance classes, students are divided into juniors and seniors which ensure they receive the correct level of tuition for their age and ability. In keeping with the ‘arts educational’ experience and our wish to develop independence, teamwork and leadership skills in students, all meals, lessons and activities are taken together. Excursions and evening entertainment are combined allowing students to spend time with new friends in a relaxed manner after a packed day rehearsal.

Secure Accommodation

Students live in single-gender boarding houses under care of an experienced Centre Manager who acts in loco parentis and is responsible for the development and welfare of each student. All Teenage Stage Summer School staff and trained chaperones are employed directly by us which helps students settle quickly and helps them achieve their full potential during their stay.

Creative and Fun

The course is small and friendly, and each location offers a perfect backdrop for an exciting summer. Each day is structured to give a true taste of drama school life. Classes with three professional directors each morning, group and company workshops, rehearsal in afternoons, fun activities,  evening masterclasses, quizzes and excursions up to lights out!

PROUDLY SUPPORTED BY Centre for Drama and Theatre Studies at NUI Galway

We at the Centre for Drama and Theatre Studies at NUI Galway are delighted to support this exciting initiative. Teenage Stage Summer Schools will give young people from Ireland and around the world an opportunity to spend an intensive week in the world of musical theatre, working with first-rate teachers and practitioners. Along the way, they will certainly learn a great deal, and will meet new people.

We look forward to contributing to the school in a variety of ways: by advising on the curriculum, by involving our own undergraduate Drama students, by hosting a visit of participants to our campus for a special evening of entertainment – and in other ways too. In doing so, we want to play our part in making Teenage Stage Summer Schools a rigorous, educationally rich and enjoyable immersion in the world of theatre.

some recent Testimonials

"Thank you so much to you all who did such wonderful work with Ella and all the other kids. We were so impressed and moved by the production and Ella was full of stories and excitement which has been missing from her life for a long time. It was the best therapy she could have had, worth every penny" Lucy Bingham, Parent, Dublin, July 2017

"This summer school is creative, fun and exciting, Well thought-through, artistically, educationally and administratively as a joyful learning experience for teenagers! I wish you every possible success with it, as I'm sure it will be! Lucky participants, something to really enjoy and look back on with pleasure and a sense of real achievement"

Dr. Adrian James PhD
Head of Cert H.E. in Theatre Arts (Southend)
East 15 Acting School. University of Essex.

"Elena, 13, was the only Italian girl on Dublin's Teenage Stage 2017 and it was her very first experience abroad by herself.

She got to meet lovely new friends from Ireland and greatly enjoyed both rehearsals and free time.

The final show was just amazing and one cannot help wondering how those kids could prepare it in just one week.

It made us love Sweeney Todd, a musical that we had never properly appreciated."

Gianluca Di Lorenzo, Parent, Italy, July 2017

"Sadhbh has been filling me in on every minute detail. She had a wonderful experience with you and benefited hugely from the opportunity to be part of the production of Sweeney Todd. The entire experience from start to finish (every detail of which has been shared in last 48 hours) was nothing short of superb. Less than 51 weeks to next year!  I'll be checking out the website for Teenage Stage 2018 and Sadhbh's name will be added to list as early as is humanly possible" Edel Meaney, Parent

"Emily had a great time and couldn't stop talking about the camp, rehearsals and her friends.  It was a big step sending her away and it was brilliant! We will be interested in next year so please keep us posted. We also enjoyed the show very much, it was great to see all the talents but most of all we are grateful that Emily was part of the group and felt included all the time" Izabela O'Brien, Parent

I would like to congratulate all at Teenage Stage. My daughter Holly had the time of her life and made fantastic memories and friends. The staff were extremely supportive and friendly. I can't recommend this camp highly enough. Holly had no previous experience apart from school plays like most kids but felt at ease with others who had a lot. There was no agenda and they all  gelled very well together even from 11 different countries!. The show was amazing considering you had 6 days to put it all together and was as good if not better than some musical society's produce.  See you next year!

Bobby White, Parent, Dublin, July 2017

"Congratulations on a fantastic summer school. My son Harvey had an amazing time and is already talking about coming back next year!" Claire Dolan, Parent

"I have sent three of my teens away on courses and always seen benefits but nothing to match yours in all honesty. The Gealtacht is lovely but three weeks is a long time and on reflection, your only young once! and Teenage Stage has a lovely balance of hard work and entertainment for them! Your show was amazing also! Thank you" Deirdre O'Brien, Dublin

"Natasha had an excellent summer school, it's done her the world of good and the production was brilliant, especially impressive as you only had seven days with them, thank you" Annemarie Walker, Parent

"I want to say a big thank you and congratulations for the fabulous week Emily had. She was happy from the moment she arrived and met her room mates right to the end of the production. She talked a lot about the whole week afterwards. She really enjoyed it and appreciated working with such a talented cast. Thank you for the work you put into making it such a successful week and amazing to think you achieved this in such a short time frame" Michele Royliston, Singapore

"Thank you for the email and opportunity for early booking. Nyika was so enthusiastic last summer, she really wants to participate again this year. I have sent in the booking form for her. We were equally impressed with the whole organisation, supervision and support of the summer school and have no hesitation to recommend it to friends" Rita, Parent, Carlow

"Cameron really enjoyed the concept of putting on a show in a week and had never done anything like this before! He was thrilled by the experience so thank you to all the very professional and caring team" Iris Campbell, Belfast

"Wow! what I can I say, this was my first trip away from home and I appeared in a full musical theatre production, made fantastic friends and the evening guest workshops are even better than daytime if possible! Unforgettable" Lynn,  age 16, Student, Switzerland

"This is a fantastic course for any young performer and if there is a better theatre course out there for teenagers, I have not seen it and the production was quite brilliant on the final day" Hugo, Parent, Barcelona

"Thank you so very much for everything you have done and have come to mean for Lily – I cannot begin to explain how much she has gained from Teenage Stage. Just a couple of years ago she came to this country a shy and unsure girl. The confidence, teamwork, passion and ambition that you have helped nurture in her, is invaluable" Lisa Christopher, Parent
